Adding relationship types
Use the Relationship types window in the Advanced Accounting Console to add, edit, and delete relationship types.
In order to use the Relationships module, you must set up a GROUP_CODE general lookup/validation table.
- In the Advanced Accounting Console, go to Settings > Membership > Set up tables > Relationship types.
- In the Relationship types window, click New.
- In the Code field, enter a value that you want to use to represent the relationship.
- In the Description field, enter information that describes the relationship. The description displays on the Relationship Detail window for this code.
- (optional) If desired, enter the code for the relationship you want linked to your new relationship type in the Reciprocal Code field.
- (optional) Enable the Use Title option if you want to display the Title and Functional Title fields in the Relationship Detail window.
- (optional) Enable the Use Dates option if you want to display fields for beginning (From) and ending (Thru) dates of the relationship in the Relationship Detail window.
- Click Save.
Note: If you leave the Reciprocal Code field blank for relationship type, two contacts connected with that relationship type will be displayed with that same type.
You can change the Description, Reciprocal Code, and the Use Title or Use Dates options for any of the standard relationship types that are shipped with iMIS, and you can edit any customized relationship types that you created.
- In the Advanced Accounting Console, go to Settings > Membership > Set up tables > Relationship types.
- In the Relationship types window, select a code from the list of relationship types.
- Click Edit.
- Enter the new information.
- Click Save.
- In the Advanced Accounting Console, go to Settings > Membership > Set up tables > Relationship types.
- In the Relationship types window, select a code from the list of relationship types.
- Click Delete. A message is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion:
- Click Yes to remove the type.
- Click No to cancel the deletion.
Note: Before deleting a relationship type, check to be sure that your system does not have any relationships set up that use that relationship type.
