Choosing a SQL reporting tool

You can customize SSRS reports using one of SQL's reporting tools. iMIS supports all of the following versions of SQL:

  • 2008 (uses SQL BIDS)
  • 2008 R2 (uses SQL BIDS)
  • 2012 (uses SSDT)
  • 2014 (uses SSDT)
  • 2016 (uses SSDT)

The reporting tool that you download depends on the version of SQL that you have. In some cases, the reporting tool may have already been downloaded when you downloaded SQL. In other cases, you will need to separately download the compatible reporting tool. If you have SQL Server 2012, 2014, or 2016, then you need to download the reporting tool SQL Server Data Tools - BI (SSDT - BI).

ASI recommends that you visit the Microsoft support site for more information about SQL, reporting tools, and what is right for you.
