Accessing the events fields

Often when you want to access or reference a particular field, you can make your selection from a scrolling list. For example, the Ad Hoc Search facility lets you select from scrolling lists of tables and fields within the chosen table. In the following cases, however, no scrolling lists are available and you must enter field names in a text box, alone or imbedded in a character string:

• Identifying fields for merging in the Standard Letter System
• Specifying sort sequence for a report or other output
• Referencing additional fields to add to certain reports or output
• Setting up system areas
• Identifying programmers' statements that are available in certain functions for advanced requirements
