Active products

The default status for all new products is Active. Active products are always available for sale to your customers except during periodic fluctuations in inventory. When an Active product has insufficient inventory in stock to fill an order, the product is backordered until sufficient inventory exists for delivery.

Order Entry Cases - During order entry, Active products have the following functional characteristics:

• Can be ordered when the number of products in inventory is greater than or equal to zero.
• Cause the creation of backorders when the order quantity exceeds the number of products in inventory.
• Display on the Product Find window when returned from a product search.
• Cause the Opportunities window to open when you Tab out of the Product field (if Upsell and/or Cross-sell items are designated for the product):
• Allow the substitution of Upsell items (if designated).
• Allow the addition of Upsell and Cross-sell items (if designated).
