Products that are Out of Production
Products that have an Out of Production status cannot be reordered from suppliers and are available for sale to your customers only up to the current inventory level. You can sell an Out of Production product only if the product's quantity-on-hand is greater than zero.
Once you deplete an Out of Production product's current inventory, iMIS treats any additional sales of the product as if the product's status is Not Available.
Order Entry Cases - During order entry, Out of Production products have the following functional characteristics:
- Can be ordered only when the number of products in inventory is greater than zero.
- Display on the Product Find window when returned from a product search.
- Can be replaced with Upsell items (if designated).
- Allow the addition of Upsell and Cross-sell items (if designated).
- Cause the Opportunities window to open when you Tab out of the Product field (if Upsell and/or Cross-sell items are designated for the product):
- Allow the substitution of Upsell items (if designated).
- Allow the addition of Upsell and Cross-sell items (if designated).
- Cause the Opportunities window to open if the order Quantity exceeds the quantity available in inventory. You then must do one of the following:
- Select an Upsell or Replacement item for the entire number of units ordered (the order Quantity remains unchanged).
- Select an Upsell or Replacement item to replace the units ordered in excess of the available inventory:
- The Out of Production product's order Quantity updates to reflect the maximum quantity available in inventory.
- A new line item is added for the Upsell or Replacement item, and the new item's order Quantity equals the difference between the Out of Production product's original order Quantity and the available inventory.
- The Opportunities window closes.
- Click Close on the Opportunities window to update the Out of Production product's order Quantity to equal the number of units available in inventory.
