Building a library of queries
Consider the following best practices for building your library:
- Plan for a folder structure and naming convention for queries. This will help to organize queries when multiple users are making changes and additions to queries.
- Establish a review of all queries to delete incorrect or unused queries. Consider a policy of allowing the user to copy or borrow another user's query but not to modify the original query.
- Use the Versions tab to track the author (based on the user's iMIS login name) and created/update dates.
- Make sure that any user defined tables have been previously published.
Queries in the Document System
The Document System (RiSE > Document system) offers a complete administrative tool for managing folders, security, and storage of queries. Here you are able to implement an entire library of queries that can be used in iMIS modules to best meet your users’ needs.
Creating a custom folder in the Document system
Do the following to create a custom folder in the Document system:
- In the Staff site, go to RiSE > Intelligent Query Architect.
- Select New > Folder.
- Enter a folder name, for example, Custom Queries.
- (Optional) Select Allow only the following types of objects in this folder and select the type of objects from the list.
- Click Save.
