iMIS Desktop to Staff site: Planned, under-consideration, and deprecated features

There are several features that are available in the iMIS Desktop that have not yet been migrated to the iMIS EMS Staff site.

Important! Review the table to ensure you will not lose important functionality by upgrading to iMIS EMS. If you are currently using any of the following features in the iMIS Desktop, you may need to wait to upgrade until the feature has been implemented. Talk to your AiSP or CPIL for more information.

The table outlines features with one of the following statuses:

  • Planned - Features that are on the ASI backlog and are planned for future development.
  • Under consideration - Features that are not planned but are under consideration for future plans.
  • Deprecated - Substantial changes have occurred in the industry over the years since ASI first introduced the iMIS Desktop. Along with the industry changes, ASI has noted the changing needs for their customers. To best support these changing needs, some of the features once implemented in Desktop are going to be left behind.
Feature Description Status
Override the price of a product that contains VAT The Desktop allowed you to override the price of a product that contained VAT. Currently in iMIS EMS, it is not possible to change the price of a product that contains VAT. Planned

Edit an order prior to invoicing

The Desktop allows you to edit an order if it has not yet been invoiced.

Under consideration

Mark an attendee as a no-show

The Desktop offered several user-defined fields for events that many clients were using to denote a registrant as a "No Show."

Under consideration

Note: Currently in EMS, if CEUs are defined for the registration option or a specific program item, then attendees can be marked as absent.

Matching gifts

The Desktop allowed you to configure matching gifts, in which companies could create specific "matching plans" that enabled them to have a structure in place to match a constituent's gift. Under consideration

AR payment importer

The Desktop AR importer provided the ability to import financial transactions into iMIS. Under consideration

Billing payment importer

The Desktop billing payment importer provided you with the ability to import billing payments.

Under consideration

Note: API is currently available. User interface is under consideration.

Modifying the Order Confirmation template

In earlier versions of iMIS, you could edit the order details block by navigating through a local folder path (C:\AsiPlatform\Asi.Scheduler_website\Assets) and opening the OrderConfirmationEmailTemplate.htm file for edit. Under consideration

Shipping partial backorders

The Desktop allowed you to ship partial backorders. Under consideration

Standard Valuation for Cost of Goods Sold

The Desktop allowed you to choose between Average or Standard valuation for Cost of Goods Sold. EMS always uses the Average valuation. Deprecated

Campaigns and Source Codes

The Campaign and Source Code functionality that was once available in Desktop has been replaced with the new Campaign Management functionality. The new model is designed specifically with end users in mind and will require a change for staff users entering gifts. See Migrating campaigns and appeals from Desktop to EMS. Deprecated

Billing product codes ending in _CREDIT

Billing product codes ending in _CREDIT could bill and retain negative or credit balances; for example, AVAIL_CREDIT could be used to apply overpayments to offset next year's dues. See Working with AVAIL_CREDIT balances after upgrading. Deprecated

Permanently deleting contact records

The Desktop allowed you to permanently delete contact records. To retain data integrity, deleting contact records is not currently allowed in iMIS. For duplicate records, consider using Duplicate Merge. For data records that should be anonymized for privacy reasons – for example, if a contact wishes to have their personally identifiable information removed from the database as required by GDPR and California Privacy Act – see Erasing a contact’s personal data. Deprecated

Access Keywords

The Desktop allowed you to use the Access Keywords functionality to control access to specific activity types, define file type for attachments, or manually add or delete activity records.

Access keywords are not supported in EMS, but documents may be secured to certain users and groups. See more information on access settings.

Deprecated

Acquisitions Management

The Desktop's Acquisition Management feature allowed you to import prospects and search an external prospect table from the iMIS global name lookup. Once you located the prospect record, you could convert the record to a customer record.

In EMS, prospects are always entered into the database as contact records and can be identified as prospects by their member type or by a custom dynamic panel editor source.

Deprecated

NRDS

The Desktop offered a NRDS bridge for data synchronization with the National Association of Realtors. A native integration is not planned; however, a third-party integration with NRDS is available. Please contact your AISP or CPIL for more information. Deprecated

Including Title and Functional Title in relationships

The Desktop allowed you to include a contact's Title and Functional Title in the relationship display. Deprecated

Publication fields

The Desktop had fields for publications. These fields are exposed in the product's setup, as well as through a public-facing view when a customer buys a book.

The publication fields are not planned for development in iMIS; however, user-defined fields for products are under consideration for future development.

Deprecated

The Desktop allowed you to print specific inventory properties for a product, including the member price, non-member price, premium, unit of measure, and default accounts. Deprecated

Inventory restocking fees

The Desktop allowed you to define restocking fees for inventory products. Deprecated

Due to the shift towards digital and dropship-style products, ASI has decided to drop support for multi-warehouse management and instead focus on more modern features.

Deprecated

Manually posting inventory receipts

The Desktop offered a setting that allowed you to enable or disable the automatic posting of inventory receipts.

EMS allows for automatic posting of inventory receipts, but manual posting is not available.
