Defining special pricing

Pricing can be defined at the dues product level or, if it is a mandatory dues product, at the customer type level.

Warning!

To determine a price for a given product, iMIS looks on the Special Pricing window. If no price is set on the Special Pricing window, iMIS checks the Set up customer types window. If no price is set or if the Comp option is not enabled, iMIS looks on the Set up products window.

Use special pricing dues calculations for the following:

  • To base billing on customer types that are subdivided into billing categories
  • To calculate billing based on data in your demographic fields
  • To enter product rates individually because there is no pattern to the rates

Sometimes, pricing for products cannot be represented by simple flat rates at either the default standard customer/non-customer pricing level or by flat rates at the customer type level. If flat rates do not apply at either of these two levels, use the Special Pricing window to define pricing rules.

Special pricing situations may include the following:

  • Calculation of sliding scale rates
  • Calculation using minimums and maximums
  • Calculations of categories
  • Calculations of customized data
  • Calculations using yes and no
  • Calculations of certification length

Special pricing rules for dues products:

  • Keep it simple
  • Use SQL syntax
  • Use the Name_All view (not table names).
  • Note: The Name_All view is a combination of multiple Name-related tables. The Name_All view is required for all special pricing other than flat rates. Use Name_All as a prefix for all iMIS source fields instead of the actual file name. See Creating the Name_All View.
