Defining inventory parameters for multiple warehouses

If you store single products in multiple warehouse locations, then you can define inventory parameters for each warehouse in which single products are stored. You also have the ability to define a specific bin within a warehouse where a product is stored. Inventory parameters for multiple warehouses include reorder points, order quantities, inventory arrival and receipt dates, product costs, and account numbers.

To use multiple warehouses for storing single products, the Enable Multi-Warehouses option must be enabled on the Inventory System Setup window (from Orders, select Set up module, and click Inventory).

If the Enable Multi-Warehouses option is enabled, the Warehouses button displays in place of the Inventory button on the Manage products window. The Warehouses window is used for setting up multiple warehouses for single products and is accessed by clicking the Warehouse button.

To access the Warehouses window and define inventory parameters for a product's warehouses, the Stock Item option must be enabled for a product on the Manage products window. If a product is designated as a stock item, the Warehouses button will be enabled. If a product is not designated as a stock item, the Warehouses button will be visible but disabled.

Each product can be assigned a default warehouse on the Manage products window. If a product has a default warehouse, iMIS verifies that the default warehouse has sufficient inventory in stock when an order for the product is entered. If insufficient inventory is in stock at the default warehouse, you have the ability to order the product from another warehouse. If necessary, you also have the ability to override a product's default warehouse at order entry.

To define inventory parameters for multiple warehouses on the Warehouses window, the warehouses first must be defined on the Set up warehouses window (from Orders, select Set up warehouses). See Defining Warehouse Locations (see Orders: Set up warehouses) for more.
