Releasing backorders manually

Backorders can be converted to shippable orders using the Manually release backorders processing stage (from Orders, select Process orders > Manually release backorders). Released backorders are removed from the holding stage for orders awaiting inventory and are returned to the appropriate order processing stages for the given order types.

You would use the Manually release backorders processing stage only in rare instances. For example, you would use this function if you did not have the opportunity to enter and post product inventory receipts before processing an order or if a difference existed between perpetual and physical inventory.
