iMIS AutoPay FAQ
What is iMIS AutoPay?
iMIS AutoPay enables automatic renewal of membership fees and recurring donations using the member or donor’s credit card. The option can be made available to members and donors in the Join Now and Give Now pages of your website.
You can set your website to invite the member and donor to opt-in, or to opt-out of automated renewals or even have the option switched on for all new members and donors.
How does iMIS AutoPay work?
AutoPay uses Pay Central Service to process credit card and bank account information for recurring payments while maintaining PCI compliance. The Pay Central Service supports processing of credit card and bank account payments while maintaining PCI compliance.
Do I need a license to use AutoPay?
Yes. To use recurring memberships, you need the AutoPay license. To use recurring donations, you need the AutoPay and Fundraising licenses.
What can I do additionally with an AutoPay license?
- Offering members or donors the choice of easy, automated payments.
- Maximizing member and donor retention with automated renewals.
- Enabling staff to discontinue automatic payments for members or donors at any time.
- Using settings in the Staff site to set automatic payment options as off, opt-in, opt-out, always on or required.
- Differentiating between automatic and non-automatic renewals so your members are billed accurately.
- Staff manually adding members to the automatic membership renewal program.
- Staff previewing membership fees or donations to be collected, and submit for collection.
- Securely storing credit card details in a PCI-compliant manner.
Why is there an open credit (prepayment) on the member or donor's account after the recurring payments were processed?
If the iMIS invoice was already marked as paid or partially paid at the time the payment was processed, the processed payment appears as an open credit on the member or donor's account.
Can members and donors cancel their own enrollments?
Yes! You can configure the Automatic Payment Enrollment content item to allow members and donors to cancel their membership or recurring donations from their account page. See Allowing members or donors to cancel their own enrollments for more information.
WHAT IS IMMEDIATE CAPTURE AND HOW DOES IT AFFECT AUTOPAY?
To improve payment security, we have updated the way payments are processed in Pay Central. For most users, these changes will not affect their iMIS experience. However, some AutoPay customers may experience limitations when adding or updating payment options.
AutoPay enrollees are unable to modify existing payment methods. Due to Strong Customer Authorization requirements in the UK and Europe, Stripe gateways require canceling recurring enrollments before enrolling again with a different credit card. For Global Payments gateways, enrollees can add a new payment method to their current AutoPay enrollment before removing the previously used one. See Modifying an existing AutoPay payment method for details.
