Modifying an existing AutoPay payment method

Modifying an existing AutoPay payment method depends on the gateway and/or region where the customer is located.

Gateway Region Steps
Global Payments AP and NA
  1. (optional) Add an alert message to the public account pages to guide members on adding a new payment method.
  2. Add a new payment method to an existing AutoPay enrollment.
  3. Remove the previously used payment method.
Stripe UK and Euro

Because of strong customer authorization requirements in the UK and Euro regions, recurring enrollments can be modified by doing the following:

  1. Cancel the enrollment.
  2. Re-enroll with the new credit card or new direct debit details.
Stripe AP and NA

Modify the enrollment directly.

The Stripe gateway is available in all regions upon request. Please contact your AiSP or CPIL to learn how to get started with the Stripe gateway.

Global Payments

AutoPay enrollees may add a new payment method to an existing AutoPay enrollment, and then remove the existing payment method from the enrollment.

Stripe (UK and Euro regions)

For those in the UK and Euro regions, the Stripe gateway requires recurring enrollments to be canceled before re-enrolling with a new credit card or new direct debit details.

Staff users: Modifying enrollments

A staff user can modify an enrollment on behalf of a member or donor, but it is recommended that the member or donor modify their own enrollment, since they must re-enroll.

Setting up the site to ensure public users can cancel their own enrollments

It is recommended that the public site is successfully configured to allow members and donors to cancel their own enrollments.
