Advertising: Getting Started Guide
iMIS Advertising (SpaceMaster) enables staff to manage the advertisement order process from insertion to completion. The following information outlines how to get started.
Settings to configure before creating orders
The following settings must be configured before you can begin creating advertising orders:
- Media assets - Media assets are where the bulk of the advertising configuration set up will take place. Media assets are where an advertisement runs, such as a magazine or website. You may need to configure new media assets throughout the year. Creating the media asset not only consists of where specifically an advertisement will run, but where you will also define the schedule in which the advertisement runs, the discounts or surcharges available, the rates and rate details, and any inventory associated with the advertisement.
- Representatives, territories, and commissions - Sales representatives are assigned specific territories, for example, a national magazine will have different territories and representatives assigned to those territories. Sales representatives can be added to media orders along with their territory; that way, their commissions can be calculated for a period of time.
- Mappings - Advertising agencies help companies create, plan, and distribute their advertising campaigns. Agencies are hired to help companies determine the voice, language, and style of their ads. Mappings between an Advertiser and Agency should be created, so the agency can be referenced at the time the media order is created.
- Production detail settings - On the last step of the media order, there are many details that can be defined, such as the page number or cover position of the advertisement. Use the production detail settings to define values for those specific details.
Media orders
After the settings are configured, you can begin creating media orders. The media orders are where most of the iMIS Advertising work will take place, with the occasional updates to advertising settings. See Creating media orders to get started.
