iMIS EMS Upgrade Packages
There are several upgrade packages available from ASI Client Success to help clients who are looking to upgrade to iMIS EMS (or even iMIS 2017). These packages have been developed to provide flexible options to clients to meet their budgets and time requirements.
Migration Planning Packages
The following packages have been developed to provide clients with different levels of planning support as they look to migrate to iMIS EMS:
Performance improvement advisory service
This premium package provides the same in-depth review and outcome as the iMIS EMS Migration Plan but also provides on-going leadership to the client’s team through monthly check-ins on the progress and identification of long-range challenges. As the organization changes, goals are refreshed and the plan is updated.
The PIAS focuses on understanding a client’s strategy and key measures for strategic goal progression. We will review the operational usage of iMIS and staff capability with recommendations for key areas of improvement. These tasks will allow any client to advance their level of iMIS use and understanding, which ultimately leads to continuous performance improvement.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Performance Improvement Advisory Service includes:
- Operational Assessment and Workshop
- Team Skills Assessment and Education Plan
- Technical Assessment and Roadmap
- Performance Improvement Roadmap
- On-going leadership with your team via monthly review meetings
- Annual refresh and update to the elements above
If necessary after the assessments, workshops, and meetings, a custom iMIS Performance Improvement Roadmap is designed to increase the value received from iMIS. The Performance Improvement Roadmap will establish and prioritize the organization's goals by identifying obstacles to success. This plan will detail how to overcome the obstacles and help meet top business and organizational goals.
Note: Participants in the PIAS program are eligible to receive a 5% discount on ASI Professional Services fees and a 50% discount to ASI signature learning event, the annual iNNOVATIONS Conference.
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The Performance Improvement Advisory Service does not include hours toward consulting work, such as report creation, IQA creation, month-end processing, upgrades, and the like. If requested, that work can be estimated on a Time and Materials basis.

This package is designed to help enable a client to migrate efficiently to the iMIS EMS, while streamlining their solutions to take advantage of the iMIS EMS, eliminating historical and redundant solutions while modernizing other solutions or raising the awareness of future iMIS product solutions that should be able to deliver their business outcomes that are not within the iMIS EMS product.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The iMIS EMS Technical Review Package includes:
- Initiation Meeting
- iMIS EMS Enterprise Technical Review Kickoff
- System Analysis, customization and third-party tool usage and value review
- Solution Simplification and best practice guidance: identifying specific process improvements, including elimination of data duplication or unnecessary staff effort that may be available through the consolidation of data into one full cycle system, through simplifying these requirements, with a focus onto maximizing the iMIS EMS to deliver these, and then utilizing cloud compliant third-party tools for any that cannot be met by iMIS out of the box or adjustment of process.

Next-Step Packages
We know that there will be clients who are not ready or able to make the leap to iMIS EMS yet but want to start the process and make some improvements or plans in the short term. The Next Step Packages will help these clients make progress in their long-term migration to iMIS EMS.
Member Portal Implementation Package
Often clients, even ones who are on iMIS 2017, have not set up their member portal in a way that utilizes the benefits of the web. Outdated public sites or third-party systems handling the member or donor aspects will impact engagement. Use this package to learn how to modernize the member portal and increase engagement.
Many clients who are on older versions of iMIS, including iMIS 2017, have not yet set up the new iMIS RISE member portal functionality. iMIS comes with a significant amount of functionality in place to allow an organization’s members to log into a portal, manage their profile, and engage directly with an organization.
This package is designed to help an organization set up a starter member portal in iMIS RISE (a client can opt to do this in iMIS 2017 or in iMIS EMS, but they must be at least on the latest iMIS 2017 service pack). This package will enable the initial functionality that is available to members out-of-the-box and provide a quick update to the look-and-feel to provide a more blended approach to their website and member portal.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Member Portal Implementation package includes:
- Creating a copy of the out-of-the-box Member Responsive website
- Selecting a desired standard theme and update your logo
- Copying and configuring the standard member profile pages
- Configuring the Create Account page
- Reviewing the standard elements on the Member Portal sitemap to remove any which do not apply to your configuration
- Reviewing the RiSE settings
- One house follow-up check-in session
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
Member Portal Implementation does not include the following:
- Single sign-on to other CMS systems
- Implementation of separate module functionality
- Organization profile update or company administrator capabilities
- Chapters, committees, or volunteers
- Member renewal or billing
- Public websites
- Importing member data, usernames, and passwords
- Customizations to the theme for CSS and other design elements
- Payments, e-commerce, or credit card functionality
Staff Site Implementation Package
Staff are often determined to keep the iMIS Desktop in place and resist the move to the iMIS Staff site. With the Staff Site Implementation Package, we can help ensure the iMIS Staff site is being utilized. Along with training, the staff will begin using the iMIS Staff site, which will become their only interface with iMIS EMS.
For clients looking to upgrade from older versions of iMIS, one of the biggest hurdles is the move away from the traditional iMIS Desktop to the new web-base Staff site. This package will assist the organization in quickly setting up the key features of the Staff site to allow the staff members the opportunity to start using this interface to manage the organization.
To implement the Staff site, the client will need to be on the latest version of iMIS 2017 with an iMIS app server already installed (typically the app server is installed and configured as part of the standard upgrade).
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Staff Site Implementation Package includes:
- Configuring the member & organization profile pages, which includes:
- Cloning the out-of-the-box profile page
- Updating the profile shortcut
- Adding or removing tabs
- Adding or removing existing dynamic content items

- Organization
- Contacts
- RiSE
- One hour follow-up check-in session
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The Staff Site Implementation package does not include the following:
- E-commerce or credit card functionality
- Module-specific implementation
Automation Inventory Planning and Review Package
Some clients have developed automatic tasks and are not sure how the tasks can best be moved forward to iMIS EMS (or even if they still need them). The Automation Inventory Planning and Review Package helps clients review what automatic tasks they are currently using and provide recommendations on how those can be updated, assuming they are still needed, with iMIS EMS.
Many clients have developed automatic tasks over the years, such as Task Centre or stored procedures and triggers. These approaches have been used to perform tasks that out-of-the-box iMIS could not perform.
Moving to iMIS EMS, understanding how the automatic tasks will continue to operate can be confusing and overwhelming, especially since there is an iMIS EMS requirement that forbids stored procedures and triggers. There is also an update on how the new Process Automation - Plus module can be used.
This package is designed to help clients understand and document their key automatic tasks so they are prepared for the migration.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Automation Inventory Review and Planning Package includes:
- Creating an inventory of the current automation tools using our standard worksheet. The inventory will be created through a remote workshop with your team in order to:
- Document all automations you need to move forward
- Identify the purpose of the automation
- Identify the automation triggering event/schedule and flow
- Identify the business results from the automation
- Identify where the automation is currently located
- Provide sample output for each automation
- After the inventory is completed through the workshop, ASI will do the following:
- Provide the inventory worksheet to use during this project
- Review the inventory created above
- Make recommendations on the automations that can be modified while on iMIS 2017 or might need to be addressed later
We will conduct the inventory workshop remotely through a screen share and work with the client to document their process. Client involvement is necessary, but we will directly assist them through the inventory process.
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The Automation Inventory Review and Planning Package does not include creating new Process Automation tasks, IQA queries, communication templates, dashboards, business objects, and the like.
Reporting Inventory Planning and Review Package
This package will help clients identify custom reports and determine if the reports are still being used and if they are compatible with iMIS EMS. For clients who still have Crystal Reports or others, this package will provide the review and planning needed to help them prepare for iMIS EMS.
Many clients have developed custom reports in iMIS, such as ad hoc reports, Crystal reports, and SSRS reports. Moving to iMIS EMS, the issue of reports can be a daunting one especially since there is a new reporting engine with iMIS Reports.
This package is designed to help clients understand and document their key custom reports so they are prepared for the migration.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Report Inventory Review and Planning Package includes:
- Creating a custom report inventory using our standard worksheet. The inventory will be created through a remote workshop with your team in order to:
- Document all the reports you need to move forward
- Identify the purpose of the report
- Identify where in iMIS the report is being used
- Identify any queries used to power the report (if known)
- Provide sample output for each report
- Once the inventory is completed through the workshop, we will do the following:
- Provide the inventory worksheet used during this project
- Review your inventory created above
- Make recommendations on the reports that can be modified while on iMIS 2017

We will conduct the inventory workshop remotely through a screen share and work with the client to document their process. Client involvement is necessary, but we will directly assist them through the inventory process.
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The Report Inventory Review and Planning Package does not include creating new IQA queries, communication templates, dashboards, business objects, reports, and the like.
Data Integrity Review and Planning Package
This package helps to provide an overview of any data issues that may exist in the iMIS database along with recommendations on how to address them. It is always best to have data cleaned up before a migration to prevent issues during the process and ensure that iMIS is starting out correctly.
Some clients know about (or are worried about) issues with their iMIS data. Bad data may be a result of an integration to a third-party that was not connected properly, a bad migration or import from a source in the past, or simply due to staff errors over time.
The Data Integrity Review and Planning Package helps to provide an overview of any data issues that may exist, along with recommendations on how to address them. It is best to have the data cleaned up before a migration to help prevent issues during the process and to ensure that iMIS is starting out correctly.

The Forms Inventory Review and Planning Package does not include creating new iMIS Forms, panels, IQA queries, communication templates, dashboards, business objects, or reports.
Integration Inventory Review and Planning Package
This package is designed to help clients understand and document custom integrations so they are cloud-friendly and ready for the migration. High-level suggestions are given about the integrations so they may be changed or updated to be compatible with iMIS EMS.
We know that clients have developed various integrations between iMIS and third-party systems, such as single sign-on integrations, sophisticated bi-directional data integrations, and more in between.
Moving to iMIS EMS, the issue of how to handle these integrations can seem to be a daunting one especially with the move away from old technologies and a focus on the REST API. This package is designed to help clients understand and document their key custom integrations to have them prepared for the migration.
This package does not go through the technical details that might be needed to update an existing integration. This package will help clients understand the overall scope of the integrations to ensure they are still needed. High-level recommendations of how they might be changed or updated to work with iMIS EMS are provided through this package.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The Integration Inventory Review and Planning Package includes:
- Creating an integration inventory from your current integrations using our standard worksheet. The inventory will be created through a remote workshop with your team in order to:

iMIS Upgrade Packages
Clients who are ready to move forward with an upgrade will benefit from these packages.
iMIS EMS Migration Program
This package is for clients who understand they have customizations or other elements applied to iMIS but want a quick-and-easy way to leave that behind and move forward to iMIS EMS. Although quick, there is no risk involved, because the majority of the time is spent helping the client test their current processes in a real iMIS EMS environment. This testing phase ensures nothing critical is left behind.
The purpose of the program is to help clients who are still on older versions of iMIS, who have some level of complexity in their iMIS (complexities that are not allowed in iMIS EMS), or those who are not currently hosted by ASI Cloud Services.
The goal of the program is to take a client’s iMIS system, upgrade their iMIS solution through the various technologies and system changes from their version, and get them to the point where they can be moved into the iMIS EMS test system. We will then take them through the testing process and conduct a final production upgrade into iMIS EMS.
This approach does not include time to refactor custom solutions or implement new functionality. This work can best be determined by conducting an SPP for Cloud Migration to help create a detailed roadmap and estimate for that level of work.
By the time a client has completed this process, they will have iMIS upgraded in the location they determine at the start of the project and will have the ability to take advantage of the new functionality available in iMIS EMS.
Tip! Request the iMIS EMS Full Migration Package from ASI Client Success for full details.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The iMIS EMS Migration Program includes:
- Phase 1 - Upgrade to iMIS 2017: Upgrade to latest release of iMIS 2017 with the latest service pack applied.
- Phase 2 - Test Upgrade to iMIS EMS: Work with the client to upgrade to iMIS EMS, then conduct at least four two-week sprints to work with the client in testing their processes in iMIS EMS. Additional sprints can be purchased.
- Phase 3 - Go Live with Production Upgrade: Conduct an end-to-end upgrade of the production iMIS to iMIS EMS.
- Phase 4 - Post go-live tasks: One additional two-week sprint to provide post go-live help beyond general Technical Support.
At the end of this package, they will be live on iMIS EMS. They will then be in a place to be able to update their solution, add new functionality, and more.
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The iMIS EMS Migration Program does not include the following:
- Hours to conduct consulting work, such as report creation, IQAs, month-end processing, upgrades, and the like. If requested, that work can be estimated on a Time and Materials basis.
- Training on iMIS EMS
iMIS 2017 Upgrade Package
This package is for clients who are not yet upgraded to iMIS 2017 with the latest service pack applied. This package helps clients upgrade to this version and then, for many different reasons, pause on this version in production for some period of time.
The most important step for any client to take on their journey to iMIS EMS is to ensure they are on the latest service pack of the iMIS 2017 release, because the iMIS EMS upgrade is only compatible with iMIS 2017 environments.
We understand that clients might want to take their time in migrating to iMIS EMS and one of the most important steps on that journey will be to have this release in production. This package is designed to help a client quickly get into production with an upgraded iMIS 2017 system. This does not eliminate the use of the iMIS Desktop or implement new features, but it does lay the foundation for all future improvements.
This package is designed to quickly deliver an upgrade to iMIS 2017. The steps will be done quickly while the production environment is offline to members and staff. The client must provide a copy of their iMIS database and all iMIS files prior to the start of the upgrade, as well as access to the final production environment.
WHAT IT INCLUDES
The iMIS 2017 Upgrade Package includes:
- Upgrading a copy of the iMIS database to iMIS 2017 with the latest service pack on an ASI secure system. If you are already on iMIS 2017 but on the latest service pack, we can upgrade your production system directly to the latest service pack.
- Migration of the upgraded iMIS 2017 database to the provided production environment.
- Running the following scripts against the iMIS 2017 database:
- ListNonImisDatabaseObjectNames.sql - Determines how many customizations are in the database (e.g., tables, views, stored procedures). iMIS Customizer tables are not considered a customization. This script does not identify customizations outside of the database, such as a custom iPart.
- AddlComplexities.sql - Identifies potential areas of complexity that may need further investigation prior to upgrading. Review the ReadMe file before running the AddlComplexities script.
- RefreshViewMetadata - Identifies any broken views or views that reference dropped tables/other views.
- Providing a report with the information from the three scripts run above with our standard recommendations on how to analyze the results.
WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
The iMIS 2017 Upgrade Package does not include the following:
- Setting up the production hosting environment if you are hosting outside of the ASI environment
- The implementation of any new modules
- The configuration or reconfiguration of any existing modules
- Additional consulting work to take advantage of the new features of iMIS 2017
- Refactoring or redevelopment of any custom code, reports, stored procedures, triggers, or other complexities that are no longer supported under iMIS 2017 or are removed by the iMIS 2017 upgrade process
- After-hours or weekend upgrades or deployments
