Using a chapter as the primary fee
Staff users can use any chapter (CHAPT%) as a primary membership fee product with the proper configurations in place. This enables chapter fees to be used as the primary membership fee for association members. Joining members will also be able to choose from any available chapters and have the associated fees used as the primary membership fee for their member types. The chosen chapter (during a join or renewal) might be editable. This is defined in the configuration for the billing cycle.
Before a chapter can be used as the primary dues product, first it must be included in the Customer type definition. This is done by selecting Any Chapter as the Billing code for the Primary fee. For information on how to add a customer type, see Creating a customer type.
The Any Chapter option only appears in the Primary fee Billing code drop-down, if at least one chapter billing product is defined in iMIS. See Defining billing products for information on creating billing products.
Joining with Any Chapter
To allow joins with Any Chapter, the Membership billing cycleoption must be enabled in the associated billing cycle, along with the Use to display join items set and Use to display itemized renewals options.
Joins with Any Chapter require at least one chapter selection for the primary chapter, which becomes the primary membership fee. This primary chapter must be selected regardless of the state of the Require at least one chapter selection setting in the billing cycle.

Renewing with Any Chapter
Membership renewals with the customer type Any Chapter (CHAPT%) as the primary fee include all active chapter subscriptions. See Billing for membership fees for additional information about billing members for membership renewals.
For itemized renewals, at least one chapter is required. The billing cycle setting, Require at least one chapter selection, does not impact this requirement. However, the billing cycle setting Require billed chapters for renewals does affect the following scenarios:
- If Require billed chapters for renewals is selected, the billed chapters are not editable.
- If Require billed chapters for renewals is not checked, chapter selection is allowed – this also includes the primary chapter.
Note: Any changes to the primary chapter also affects the primary membership fee.
Renewing in advance with Any Chapter
Upon renewing in advance, members with a customer type of Any Chapter as the primary fee, will see their current primary chapter as the default, along with any other Active chapter subscriptions.
